Leatherman (head of the National Healthy Beaches Campaign) boasts of the beach’s water quality, sand quality and beach management. He ranks the island – just off the coast of Dunedin, north of Clearwater Beach – as one of the nation's top 10 beaches. In 2006 and again in 2007, it reached the No. 2 spot. In 2008, it was ranked Number One!

This barrier island rests along Florida’s Gulf Coast and you can only access it by boat! A ferry from Honeymoon Island will take you there. On the trip you will witness sea wildlife in its natural habitat. Look for dolphins and osprey. This island is primed for visitors.

Egmont Key State Park

Many find lighthouses to be romantic, mysterious, comforting. Egmont Key State Park is home to an historic lighthouse still operated by the government. The lighthouse aids ships entering Tampa Bay with navigation.

With 440 acres, this island is a wildlife refuge. Consider taking a snorkeling excursion to this island. Oh, and, you can only get there by boat!

Natural resources are the main attraction at Egmont Key. Look for gopher tortoises and the nests of loggerhead sea turtles!

Gulf Boulevard is the main thoroughfare that links the beach communities and it runs right through North Redington Beach. On North Redington Beach you will find permanent housing, commercial real estate and vacation rentals easily accessible.

Emerald waters at Fort De Soto Park enhance the soft sand and reflect the shady pines’ grandeur. TripAdvisor named this its #1 favorite beach in 2008. The beach is a culmination of five different islands and features a 7-mile paved trail. Canoes and kayaks often push through the mangroves here. There’s a doggy playground and even a dog beach! History is alive and well at Fort De Soto Park where a fort was built during the Spanish-American War. This is a great place to explore.

Fred Howard Park is the northernmost beach park in the county. This park has many features including the beach, the mainland and a causeway.
Park very close to the beach and enjoy the beautiful waters of the Gulf of Mexico. On the causeway you can fish, swim, play water sports or ride your favorite watercraft. The causeway is one mile long.

The mainland is a great place to hold family gatherings and even play baseball!

Gulfport Beach Park is an open beach and recreation area on Boca Ciega Bay. You’ll find it on Shore Boulevard South between 54th and 58th Streets. Shop, dine, swim or just play in the sand. Bring the family along because there are covered picnic tables and amenities for fun games.

Indian Rocks Beach is named after an intriguing legend about a native medicine man who brought his ill chief to bathe in and drink the healing waters of a local sulfur spring surrounded by rocks.

This beach is reminiscent of Florida’s original beaches with dunes, local dining, vacation cottages and rental condominiums. For a romantic get-a-way and some serious local shopping in quaint stores, Indian Rocks Beach is a great place to play.
